About South Passage

South Passage is owned and operated by The Sail Training Association of Queensland. The Sail Training Ship South Passage is a 100 foot long, gaff rigged schooner. She was purpose built to give young people aged between age 14 to 17 the experience of a traditional sailing ship.
Her home port is Manly near Brisbane and her annual sailing program takes her north to Cairns in winter and south to Wollongong in summer. Most of our voyages are with school groups. We also run voyages for community groups, the general public and corporate groups. We are a not for profit volunteer organisation and are always looking for people to work with us. Some roles do not require sailing experience.

WomenRace4 commission South Passage as our entry into the Annual Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race. The only tall ship in the race she cuts a striking figure against all the other smaller yachts taking part.

South Passage provide seven experienced crew to assist the WomenRace4 crew on this journey.
